Being a band member in the band is equivalent to being a part of a big family. However, within this huge family lies an even more closely-knitted family: THE SAXOPHONE SECTION. The saxophone section, also known as the 'Saxies', are an intriguing group of people. The section consists of 6 alto sax, 4 tenor sax and 2 baritone sax players.
Although the section consists of people of different personalities, great love and care for one other has brought them together as one united section.
Each of them shares a great passion for music and a goal to not only be the best in musicianship, but also in their espirit de corps. Besides being a jovial and relatively loud lot, the members display unity and enthusiasm in whatever they do and strive to succeed in whatever task that they are given.
Our section had performed saxophone ensembles twice in public, in SLIVER JUBILEE CELEBRATION and NOMAD. In the NOMAD PERFORMANCE, we were given only a very short period of time to prepare but we took on the challenge and put up a great performance!
Besides practicing hard for performances, our section believes in inculcating good relationships amongst each another. Through section outings and performances, our section has become more bonded than ever. Recently, two of our beloved seniors, Esther Toh and Lim Shaoming graduated from the band and although they are no longer in the band, but they will always be our hearts and we will miss them dearly!
Under the leadership of our previous section leader, Esther Toh, we won the BEST SECTION `04 AWARD. Our secondary 2 baritone sax player, James Lim, also won the BEST RECRUIT `04 AWARD. Under the new leadership of our present section leaders, Elaine and Sally, who will worked closely together to nurture and teach the juniors, our aim is to clinch the BEST SECTION `06 AWARD.
The saxophone section is where fun, passion, love and even dejection converge together and where we experience our secondary school years together. SAXIES RAWKS FOREVER!
